If I were a one year old...

I've had birthday party on the brain lately. It's hard to believe that little stinker is almost one?? Anyway, with child attached to my leg, I realized he never plays with his toys but instead follows me around all day. While I'm sure that is normal, I would like to "distract" him with some new toys that will keep his attention for, like, 5 seconds. All of his current toys are baby toys and teething rings. If he could talk, I'm sure he would be saying "Mom, how do you expect me to learn and be stimulated with this crap I've been chewing on for 6 months?" Or something like that...

Anyway, for all of you who have had one year olds, what kinds of things did they love? I'm sure Grandmas ;-) would love some suggestions. (and me too). I was so tempted to go nuts at Target yesterday, but I somehow contained myself. Oh yeah, I bought 3 new bottles of nail polish and a frappaccino instead. Damn Target!!!

Um, if you give me a couple of days to think about presents, I'll definitely give you some good suggestions. However, I just noticed your new counter on the side of your blog... You're pregnant?!?!?! Congratulations! When did you find out? I suppose I could calculate it out, but when are you due?? Yea!!

Our grandson loved the Playskool ball popper - it keeps him entertained for quite awhile. You do need to keep track of those little balls but it can be so much fun!
When you want building blocks, go straight for the Mega Blocks, they are the best. More round than Legos and much easier for little fingers to put on and off.

Ok, I'm back with some suggestions. My mom suggested mega blocks. We still use those. He might just us them for chew toys for a while, but you can work on numbers (find a block with 4, Bryce) and colors.
Jayce also loved this zebra bounce thing. I think they make them as a horse now. But, the kid could sit and bounce on it all day long.
Anything ball related was good for Jayce too. And books. Lots of books. Board books, specifically (the hard ones) so that if he chewed....
Good luck with your birthday shopping! I can't believe Bryce is going to be 1 soon!! Hey, I have a couple of shirts and a hat thing you could borrow for the parties, if you want.
